CourtNotes records your tennis lesson and turns it into something you can actually use weeks later: searchable teaching moments, the concepts your coach keeps returning to, and a game plan you can take onto the court.

Getting started
How do I record a lesson?
Open the Record tab, give the lesson a name, pick your coach, and tap Start recording. Then tap the red microphone button to begin. Put your phone somewhere it can hear both of you: your tennis bag on the bench works well. When the lesson is over, tap the stop button, then Save to library. Open the lesson from your Library and tap Transcribe. When the transcript appears, look it over, then tap Analyze.
Can I use a recording or transcript I already have?
Yes. On the Record tab, tap Import audio recording to bring in an audio file from the Files app, such as a voice memo you've saved there, or Import a transcript to paste in text. Both are analyzed the same way as a lesson recorded in the app.
Can I try it before recording a real lesson?
Yes. On the Record tab, tap Load sample data. That fills the Library, Match, and Progress tabs with a set of example lessons so you can see how everything works. Sample lessons don't count toward your free lessons, and you can remove them at any time in Settings (the gear icon on the Progress tab) without affecting your own lessons.
Do I have to ask my coach before recording?
Please do. It's their voice and their teaching, and asking first is both courteous and, in some places, legally required. In our experience most coaches are happy about it, because a student who remembers the lesson is a student who improves.
Should I use a wireless microphone?
You don't need one, and plenty of lessons record fine with the phone in a bag. But a tennis court is big and open, and your coach may be across the net, so a wireless clip-on mic gives noticeably cleaner audio. Clip it to whoever is talking, leave the phone in your bag, and record as usual. Both Bluetooth mics and mics with a receiver that plugs into your phone work. Outdoors, look for one with a foam or fur windscreen. If you clip the mic to your coach rather than yourself, ask them first.
Will it keep recording if my screen locks?
Yes. While a lesson is recording, CourtNotes keeps your screen awake, and if the screen does lock, recording carries on in the background. The live audio meter on the recording screen shows that sound is being captured.
What runs where
Does my audio leave my phone?
No. Recording, transcription, and analysis all happen on your device. There is no server, no account, and no upload. Nothing you record is ever sent to us. The only time anything leaves your device is when you choose to export it yourself.
Which devices work?
CourtNotes needs iOS 26 on iPhone, or iPadOS 26 on iPad, on a device that supports Apple Intelligence, such as iPhone 15 Pro or newer, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. The on-device analysis depends on it.
Why is the first transcription slow?
The first time you transcribe, your device may need to download a speech model. That's a one-time wait, and it happens on your device.
Free lessons and unlocking
How much is free?
Your first five lessons are free, and each one is recorded, transcribed, and analyzed in full. Sample lessons don't count toward the five. Everything you record stays readable forever, whether or not you unlock.
What does the unlock cost?
It's a single one-time purchase. No subscription. The current price is shown in the app, in Settings under Upgrade.
How do I unlock unlimited lessons?
When you start a lesson beyond your first five, CourtNotes shows the upgrade screen. You can also open it any time: go to Settings (the gear icon on the Progress tab), then under Upgrade, tap Unlock unlimited sessions.
I already bought it but it's asking me to pay again.
Open Settings, and under Upgrade, tap Restore purchase. On a new device or after reinstalling, the unlock usually comes back on its own, as long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Can my family share the unlock?
No. The unlock belongs to the Apple Account that bought it and isn't shared through Family Sharing.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find CourtNotes, and request a refund there.
Audio playback
How do I move around in a recording?
Open a lesson to find its player: play and pause, a bar you can drag to any point in the recording, and buttons to jump back or forward 15 seconds. In a teaching moment, tap the timecode to play the recording from that point, and the player follows along.
Why doesn't a timecode land exactly on the moment?
Timecodes are estimated from where each moment appears in the transcript, so they usually land within a minute or two of the spot rather than on the exact second. Use the bar or the 15-second buttons to fine-tune. Long stretches of drilling without talking can make the estimate less precise, and lessons analyzed before version 1.2 may be further off.
Your data
How do I get my lessons out?
To share one lesson, open it and tap the share button at the top. You can export the transcript, the analysis, or both as text files, or the audio recording. In the Sessions list, you can also swipe left on a lesson to export it. To export everything at once, go to Settings, then Export everything, which shares a text summary of every lesson and its teaching moments.
How do I delete something?
To delete a teaching moment, tap Edit on the moment, then Delete this moment. You can remove the sample lessons from Settings at any time. Deleting individual lessons isn't available yet. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device, and because we never receive your data, there is nothing held by us to delete.
How do I manage my coaches?
Go to Settings, then Coaches, to add, rename, or remove a coach. Removing a coach keeps all of their lessons.
Troubleshooting
The recording paused.
If a phone call, an alarm, Siri, or another app takes over your device's audio, CourtNotes pauses the recording instead of ending it, and the recording screen shows Paused. It normally resumes on its own once the audio is handed back. Nothing already recorded is lost. If it stays paused, tap stop and save the lesson, and everything up to that point is kept. Before a lesson, it's worth turning on Do Not Disturb or a Focus, and checking that you have storage space free.
Transcription or analysis failed.
Tap Try again. The lesson and its audio are still saved, so nothing is lost. If it keeps failing, check that Apple Intelligence is turned on in your device's Settings, and play the recording back to make sure it captured sound.
The analysis missed something, or got something wrong.
The analysis can only be as good as the transcript it reads. After you transcribe, and before you tap Analyze, you can correct anything that was misheard in the transcript under Review transcript. After analysis, tap Edit on any teaching moment to reword it, fix its tags, or delete it.
The transcript is full of gaps or wrong words.
That is almost always an audio problem rather than a transcription problem. Wind across the microphone, distance between you and your coach, and a phone buried at the bottom of a bag are the usual causes. Try keeping the phone near the top of the bag, and if it keeps happening, a wireless clip-on mic clipped to whoever is talking is the single biggest improvement you can make.
